Fairfax Media, owner of Stuff – New Zealand’s number one news and entertainment site – today announced a new partnership with nib, the country’s second largest health insurer.

The two companies have joined together to launch Done, a new range of affordable, tailored health insurance designed to make it easier for the surprising number of Kiwis that don’t have any health cover.

The online-only product lets consumers play around with simple quoting tools to choose the best type of cover to suit what they need and can afford in a matter of minutes. Done offers Everyday Cover and Hospital Cover to ensure Kiwis can get their health back on track quickly.

Fairfax Media Chief Executive Officer Sinead Boucher says Done is another example of its commitment to find new ways to fund journalism in New Zealand by partnering with industry experts and leveraging the marketing strength Fairfax’s audience brings. Done follows on from other recent partnerships like Neighbourly, Stuff Fibre, energyclubnz and most recently Stuff Pix.

“We are committed to creating new businesses and services that we know Kiwis will value and we’re open to talking with other businesses about opportunities where we can partner to leverage our competitive strengths,” says Ms Boucher.

“We think offering comprehensive and cost effective health insurance is another way we can service our monthly audience of 3.4 million New Zealanders*.
Only 30 per cent of Kiwis have health insurance, whereas home, car and contents insurance are high on most people’s lists.

nib Chief Executive Officer Rob Hennin said the health insurer was excited to have partnered with Fairfax to launch the new health insurance brand, which offers peace of mind to customers in their time of need.

“We believe there is a real opportunity for private health insurance to help reduce the ever increasing health cost burden on the Government by helping facilitate access to healthcare for Kiwis,” Mr Hennin says.

“This new strategic alliance does exactly that, helping to reach some of the 70 per cent of Kiwis who are currently living without private health insurance.”
