2 out of 3 Kiwis Read a Newspaper Every Week*.

That’s 66% of all New Zealanders.

It used to be hard to put the power of print into context but now we can easily tell you that two out of three New Zealanders read a newspaper every week. That’s 66% of  Kiwis around the country. This number backs up print’s enduring relevance and reach that is sometimes overlooked in the media and marketing industries.

In a world where the lines between fact and fake news are increasingly blurred, these numbers show that New Zealanders still trust their newspaper as a source of honest and quality journalism on the topics that matter to them. From Cape Reinga to Bluff, print still remains as a preferred medium for over 2.5 million New Zealanders (66%) and 1.7 million Kiwis continue to view newspapers as our most trusted source of news and information.* It is one of the most important places that locals go to to get information and the latest news about their community and from the rest of New Zealand.

Traditional media like print and broadcast will continue, for years to come, to occupy an important position as a preferred news source for many consumers – because people have grown up with them, they enjoy them – and they trust them.
