A supercharged Neighbourly is on the way

A radically revamped Neighbourly - New Zealand's social network for good - is in the works as Stuff Group builds on the success of its 18 new Neighbourly News hyper-local news sites.

Today Stuff told its members across New Zealand that an all-improved Neighbourly is on the way.

Neighbourly is the country's only local social network, a neighbourhood-based marketplace and engagement platform where verified neighbours come together to chat, share, sell and learn more about their local businesses. It was launched in 2014 and bought outright by Stuff in 2017.

Stuff's product team has rebuilt Neighbourly from the ground up.

Stuff Group Chief Product Officer Ben Haywood says the super-improved Neighbourly is built for the chat era with an interface designed to make local life easier and provide an interactive place to chat, buy, sell and connect.

"The launch of Neighbourly News earlier this year is all part of a larger project which will deliver for New Zealand a truly national, local, social network combining all the best and most positive aspects of life in our neighbourhoods," he says.

As the final stages are completed, the current neighbourly.co.nz site will be put on pause from September 23.

"We're pulling down the shop blinds while we finish the renovation," says Haywood. "In the meantime, Neighbourly News is the place to be for what's opening, happening and worth celebrating in your local community."

Director of Commercial Lee Piper says the supercharged Neighbourly will be a positive environment for advertisers both big and small. Launch partners are encouraged to get in touch.

"A social network that is local, interactive, community based and with national reach at scale is the best way to connect with consumers where they live," he says. "Neighbourly News launched with excellent results for brands big and small - the new Neighbourly will deliver that too."
