Stuff Group’s successful events business took home two awards at the NZEA New Zealand Event Awards last night, winning Best Business Event and Best Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative.

The country’s largest regional farming event, Central Districts Field Days which is owned by Stuff, won the Best Business prize while an innovative News Media Wānanga, Te Matarau, which was initiated by Stuff, won the DEI award. The Wānanga, spearheaded by Stuff’s then-Pou Tiaki Matua Carmen Parahi, gathered more than 80 senior leaders from community groups, the country’s largest media organisations and government to share experiences and discuss how to improve representation of Māori and underserved communities in Aotearoa’s media.

Central Districts Field Days attracted more than 30,000 people to Feilding in March this year, significantly boosting the local economy.

“I’m really proud of our team that delivers amazing events year-round, supporting and engaging communities and businesses across the country by creating unmissable experiences,” says Stuff Events Director Henry McLernon. “Field Days this year hosted over 500 exhibitors, generating tens of millions of dollars in sales. It is great to see this impact recognised by our peers at the event industry’s leading awards night. We have some other exciting announcements to make soon too - we can’t wait to share them!”

In addition to Central Districts Field Days, Stuff Group owns and runs some of Aotearoa’s most iconic events, including the Round the Bays fun run and the NZ House & Garden Tours for which tickets go on sale soon.

Stuff Brand Connections Managing Director Matt Headland says Stuff’s industry-leading events business combined with the scale and reach of Stuff’s digital and masthead publishing businesses makes Stuff an unmissable partner for brands.

“You’d be hard pressed to find a partner who can deliver large-scale and targeted experiences and activations across as many touchpoints as Stuff can.

“Chemist Warehouse provides a great example of how our partners can leverage our events business to increase their impact. Stuff Events delivers trade events and company activations for Chemist Warehouse. This is part of Stuff Group’s comprehensive partnership with the retail pharmacy group that includes the production and distribution of The House of Wellness magazine and an associated lifestyle hub on Aotearoa’s number one digital news site stuff.co.nz."
